About Neogrid Technologies
Henrik Lund Stærmose and Per Dahlgaard Pedersen were in 2008 both employees at Motorola in Aalborg. That December all of Motorola’s branches were closed due to the financial crisis, which left Henrik and Per suddenly unemployed. The shut down of Motorola did however become the stepping stone for Henrik and Per to leap into the dream of starting their own company. With some of their former colleagues at Motorola, they started their own company in the field of information and communication technology.
Initially, a lot of meetings were held throughout the country, and in that time a member of the group discovered that a cold store had chosen to turn off the electricity at night time due to high electricity prices. With this, the idea of efficient energy management came to life. Energy management solutions were not new to the market, however the existing solutions were expensive and not very efficient. With the experience and competence of the members of the group, they quickly saw an opportunity to contribute with a new perspective and new solutions in smart grid.
The group was aided by an incubator program where office facilities, a mentor arrangement and guidance were provided. Along the way, the original group started shrinking in size. Some of the members returned to the job market, others were not quite ready to commit to a start-up business. However, Henrik and Per believed in the idea so much, that they alone founded Neogrid Technologies ApS on March 1, 2010. Shortly after, they helped their first costumer and from there it moved forward.
As a consequence of the first consultant job, Neogrid Technologies actively took part in many research and cooperation projects. New regulations and new rules did however affect the market in such a way that some projects were dropped while focus were moved to new ones. In the meantime the primary idea was further developed and adjusted. Neogrid’s project engagement continued throughout the years and has been fundamental in gaining the experience and knowledge that makes Neogrid Technologies a unique company in this field today.

Names carry identity, and so does Neogrid Technologies. Let’s begin with the most obvious and then the most interesting. ‘Technologies’ contribute to the understanding of what it is we work with – technology, as well as the fact that we work with more than one technology – hence the plural form.
‘Grid’ is yet another nod to what it is that we do, since it creates associations to the power grid and smart grid. Let’s finally take a look at the more interesting part: ‘Neo’ … Neo means new or to give new life, and in this case we refer to the new – the future. Neo is also an abbreviation/acronym of “Nordjysk Energi Optimering” meaning Energy Optimization of North Jutland.
On top of that, anyone who knows The Matrix will recognize the championing against the established system and bringing something new to the table. Neogrid Technologies brings software to the table: challenges copper and cement, which used to be leading and thus bringing the future to the established status quo.

Henrik Lund Stærmose
“Since 2009 I have spent all my time starting a business with a focus on smart energy solutions that support the future’s green energy systems and help customers save energy.
I have a master of science in electrical engineering and a graduate diploma in business administration with a focus on strategy and organization development from Aalborg University. For more than ten years I have worked in the wireless development industry such as Bosch, Siemens, and Motorola, where we developed cell phones.
I live in Aalborg with my wife Carina, our three kids and our dog Hugo.”

Per Dahlgaard Pedersen
“I have a Master of science in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor in Business Administration. For more than 20 years I have worked in the wireless industry in several development centres such as Dancall Radio, Bosch, Siemens, and Motorola, where I made cell phones and equipment.
Since 2009 I have worked with IT-solutions that support energy savings and smart grid solutions.
I live in Aalborg with my wife Anette, our three kids and our dog Kai.”

We support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals because we want to contribute to a world that we can proudly pass on to future generations.
Based on the 17 Sustatinable Development Goals, we have looked into where we can make a difference and where Neogrid as a company can make an impact in the fight against climate change.
With our forecast based intelligent energy management system PreHEAT, we have the opportunity to create a more sustainable energy usage for housing companies, district heating plants, office buildings and institutions, by reducing their energy loss.
