Data collection with PreHEAT Data
With a PreHEAT data collection solution from Neogrid, we ensure a systematic gathering of all types of data, including indoor climate, water and the ventilation in a building.
The data collection solution makes it possible to see the data in real time and high resolution (down to the minute) 24/7, 365 days a year for the use of data driven control and performance analyses. As a costumer you can implement these analyses yourself, or you can add some of Neogrid’s solutions for performance monitoring and data driven analyses of the building to your purchase.

Automatic collection of energy meter data and sensor data
PreHEAT Data collects energy meter and sensor data and stores it safely in the cloud. You will no longer have to manually read it off, and it gives you access to detailed data that updates down to the minute. On top of that, our solution gathers all your data in one place, and you can easily monitor the installation and consumption via the PreHEAT Dashboard on your computer or mobile device.
PreHEAT provides detailing of the energy meter data which can be at different levels such as room, apartment, department, and building. It is all based on your needs and infrastructure. We have great experience with apartment buildings and single family houses, but we also have clients where we collect data in other types of buildings such as schools, institutions, malls and offices.
On top of that we ensure easy transfer of data to solutions such as MinEnergi2, KMD EnergyKey and more.
We can always customize our solution and data collection to your needs.
What can you do with the data collection?
By using online data collection in a digitalization of your building, you will be able to improve the indoor climate, become more energy efficient, and optimize the operation of the building. The data can also be used as part of a renovation project where the data collection can help make sure that you reach the expected results.
Our solution collects all the data from the building and provides an easy access to it through our portal, which makes the following possible:
- Online visualization of meter and sensor data, and analyses based on historic data
- Administration and management of the installation in a building
- Visualization of data for monitoring and surveillance
- Managing user access to the data
- API-based access to the data, such as advanced modelling and management
Data collection options
The PreHEAT system supports collection with the following protocols:
- Modbus (both TCP/IP and RS485)
- Bacnet (TCP/IP)
- Wirelss IoT sensors with Wireless Mbus
- LoRa (e.g. indoor climate sensors and energy meters)
- FTP-data import
- Third part API integration
This means that we can collect data from:
- Danfoss ECL (110, 210, 310 – including the ECL-portal)
- Energy meter (via Mbus or Wireless Mbus)
- Heat Meter
- A building’s CTS-system
- IoT sensors (e.g. indoor climate, window opening, …)
PreHEAT is based on a thoroughly testet solution
Our solution has been used for intelligent energy management in buildings around Denmark since 2018. We are currently ensuring data collection in more than 500 buildings with over 15.000 apartments, as well as in other buildings such as schools, malls, and offices.
Additionally, our solution is being used in several research projects and Neogrid has great experience participating in research and demonstration projects with both the private sector as well as universities and public institutions in Denmark and abroad. Our web-API has with great succes demonstrated both analysis and online control of heating and ventilation systems. Furthermore, we have developed wrappers for Matlab and Python, that ensures a fast access to the system without comprehensive existing knowledge of the API-control.
The technology behind the data collection
The gateway interacts with a cloud-system driven by Neogrid (through a secure MQTT-connection with a mutual authentication 1.2 over TCP/IP).

The gateway supports reading and writing of data with the above mentioned protocols.
Our cloud can interact through a public API where we have also implemented wrappers for Python and Matlab.
